Description
This is the stronger version of Fry’s reagent for macro-etching carbon steel and mild steel parts. It is commonly used in forensic studies as the standard reagent for serial number recovery. This etchant is listed in ASTM standard E 340 Table 5. Made with reagent grade chemicals.

User Instructions:
- Heat the sample to 200 to 250 °C (302 to 283 °F) before etching to show strain lines due to cold work.
- Swab the steel sample few seconds to a minute, or use a cotton ball soaked in the etching solution.
- Wash in alcohol or rinse it with a diluted hydrochloric acid after etching to prevent copper deposition.
